Mission

Mission:

The WLSC SMART-Center is the headquarters for interdisciplinary student learning,
community education, and teacher enhancement in the northern Ohio Valley. Through
a variety of hands-on exhibits, learning technologies, resource materials, and on-going
research, the WLSC SMART-Center emphasizes an inquiry-based approach to
science, mathematics, research and technology.

Philosophy:

The WLSC SMART-Center is a place to stimulate and encourage excitement about the universe -- a place to answer old questions and to initiate new ones. The hands-on interactive environment promotes creativity and supports the process of discovery.

Features:

Educator Resource Center with Equipment and Lending Library

Demonstration Theater for large group sessions

Hands-on exhibit areas such as the Exhibit Hall and Light, Optics & Visual Perception Room.

Student Habitat housing a student research library, games and animal exhibits.

Cosmosdrome - a multifaceted science room with STARLAB inflatable planetarium.

Educator Research Lab for classes and on-going research.
