For one and two hour workshop-style programs, the cost below apply:
One hour workshop-style program: Cost $3.00 per student
Two hour workshop-style program: Cost $5.00 per student
Topics may be designed in collaboration with SMART-Center staff to meet the unique needs of the students and teachers involved in the program or chosen from the list of program topics. For a one hour workshop-style program, twenty to eighty students may be accommodated. For a two hour workshop-style program, between fifteen and eighty students may attend.
In addition to the one, two, or three hour workshop-style programs available at the SMART-Center, we have also developed a demonstration series with the following topics currently available or a series of demonstrations designed around a topic of your choice may be chosen:
Demos in the Dark - participate in interactive chemistry and physics demonstrations involving visible light and other forms of energy.
Demos in Flight - the principles of flight including lift, Bernoullis Principle, etc. will be investigated in an interactive manner.
Demos on Ice - investigate the world of freezing using water ice, dry ice, other frozen media.
Demos on Density - find out how density applies to everyday life with this series of demonstrations including watching a hot air balloon rise.
Forces and Energy - investigate a variety of forces and energy in this interactive program, including an air cannon!
Lasers, Light, and Sound - watch and listen while light and sound energy are demonstrated with a laser light show and a variety of color and sound demos.
Costs for one of the Demos series forty-five minute presentations are as follows:
Forty students to 100 students .$1.50 each
One hundred students and up ...$1.00 each
*The WLSC SMART-Center Demonstration Theater seats up to eighty small children at one time. 60-70 fit rather comfortably. If an entire school attends, please come in groups of 40-80 at one time.
All SMART-Center programs are designed to correlate with Stanford Achievement Test goals and WV Instructional Goals and Objectives.
