The following summer camps are facilitated by the SMART-Center, the hands-on science outreach serving the Northern Ohio Valley since 1996.  The SMART-Center is a member of the Association of Science and Technology Centers.

GEMS (Girls Enjoying Math and Science) Camp            June 23 and 24, 2014      APPLICATION FORM

For girls entering grades five through eight                                    8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cost $60 with snacks and lunch provided with the fee.

Learn and have fun at the same time with other girls who love science.  Join in activities and experiments in many areas of science.  Held at SMART Centre Market, 30 22nd Street, Wheeling – in the Centre Market area.

 

DinoCamp (NEW!)                                                                        July 14 and 15, 2014      APPLICATION FORM

For students entering grades three through six                               8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cost $60 with snacks and lunch provided with the fee.

How big were the dinosaurs?  What did they eat?  Where can you find fossils and learn about what lived here many millions of years ago?  Geologist and Paleontologist, Ray Garton of Prehistoric Planet and Robert and Libby Strong of the SMART-Center will lead the sessions.  Touch real dinosaur bones and learn more about a variety of prehistoric life.

Held at SMART Centre Market, 30 22nd Street, Wheeling – in the Centre Market area.

 

Moon Bases, Terraforming, and Interstellar Travel Camp      July 21 and 22, 2014       APPLICATION FORM

For students entering grades six through nine                                 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cost $60 with snacks and lunch provided with the fee.

How will we live on the Moon?  How can we change Mars to be more like the Earth?  How will we reach the stars?  Examine these and related questions that are essential to the future of humanity.  All activities are grade level appropriate, safe, and fun.  Held at SMART Centre Market, 30 22nd Street, Wheeling – in the Centre Market area.

 

Fun with Physics Camp                                                                 August 4 and 5, 2014      APPLICATION FORM

For students entering grades two through seven                             8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cost $60 with snacks and lunch provided with the fee.

Build a straw tower, experiment with flight, and learn how to use physics as a tool for understanding engineering.  All activities are grade level appropriate, safe, and fun.  New activities and topics this year for returning students!  Held at SMART Centre Market, 30 22nd Street, Wheeling – in the Centre Market area.
