STARLAB Information


The STARLAB inflatable planetarium with seven cylinders is available for lease by trained teachers following STARLAB training. The cost for a one week lease of the STARLAB is $200.00. The following cylinders are currently available: Starfield, Constellations (line drawings - Greek), Ocean Currents, Weather Patterns, Plate Tectonics, Native American Mythology, and Biological Cell. The SMART-Center will only lease the STARLAB to STARLAB-trained teachers at the school.


Staff of the SMART-Center will also do STARLAB programs at schools for the following fees: one half day (3 hours) for $300.00 or a full day (6 hours) for $500.00.

SMART-Center StarWatch


Where: Held either on site at the SMART-Center using telescopes that are easy to use, even for the beginner or at a school site.

Who: The staff of the SMART-Center will conduct the StarWatch for up to 150 people.


When: Friday nights for two hours beginning at dusk from March to June and from September through October.

Cost: $150.00 within a fifty mile radius and $0.30/mile round trip travel and $200.00 from fifty to seventy mile radius and $0.30/mile round trip travel.


Scheduling: Call the SMART-Center at least two weeks in advance. Every attempt will be made to reschedule the StarWatch in the event of inclement weather.


Points of astronomical interest will be pointed out in the evening sky with opportunities for questions and use of the telescopes.
